Just Stuff. Again.

How come I can't sit down and just write up a post?  Ack!!

So, some things going on in our life right now:
  • Thomas -- the one who plans to be a classical archaeologist -- gets to go to a science camp this summer, courtesy of a blog giveaway we won.  Mystery of the Pharaoh's Treasure.  Perfect for him.  I am so excited.
  • Seeing all the new people on the TOS Homeschool Crew is fun.  Their excitement is contagious.  I've been happy to be without Crew items to review, but their enthusiasm is rubbing off on me.  I am looking forward to getting new stuff again.
  • Some day this week I'm going to introduce "my" crew.  Each First Mate (did you see my pretty new button on the right?) is assigned a few new crewmembers.  We make up a "mini-crew" and they're stuck with me for asking questions and such.  My mini-crew looks fabulous.  I'm sure I'll learn more from them than they ever learn from me...
  • My big two are at Boy Scout Camp this week.  I'm hoping they found their swim suit bag.  It was packed, it went into the car, it was taken out of the car.  I have to assume it was packed into a vehicle going to camp, as I did not see it in the parking lot.  But they didn't find it (as of Sunday).  I've been told they are swimming in their shorts and air-drying.  I asked if I needed to buy new swim suits and drive the up there, but have been assured they are okay.  I hope that is true.  I really hope the bag turned up somewhere.
  • The Old Schoolhouse is doing a bunch of specials this summer if you go follow the beach ball.  One right now gets you a discount on WeE-books.  That got me to inventory my collection, and try to decide if I "need" to purchase some.  So I've been busy reading all kinds of great stuff.  Haven't decided on the purchase though.  There are two titles on Classical Education I want, and a Beowulf title by Ruth Beechick, and one that just looks encouraging.
  • We've made some decisions about school next year.  The biggest change is that Connor will be working on various Credit by Exam options (CLEP, DSST, ACE).  I'm feeling great about this.  He's starting on the Computer DSST first, and Western Civ 1 CLEP fairly soon.  (Sorry... loads of acronyms in this part!)

I understand about the boys at Boy Scout camp. My heart practically skipped a beat when the Scoutmaster's wife called me on the phone today. I thought, "Oh, no! Is he hurt?" But everything is okay with my Scout. :)

Oh, don't you know you're not supposed to remind me about the Schoolhouse Store specials? ;) I keep thinking about that extra e-book being offered for Molly subscribers this month. And the Molly camping e-book. See, now I'm thinking about them again! Ack! ;)

Okay, Michelle -- so just where do I find info on that extra e-book being offered for Molly subscribers?

And thanks for mentioning that. It occurred to me that I hadn't logged in there at all this month... or last month, as it turns out. Oops.

Debra,

I really dig your blog, Debra. My boys are in scouts as well. It is a lot of fun...and work.

So, Matt, your boys sound like they're about where two of mine are... I've got a new Webelos and a new Tiger. I think the Tiger year is the single hardest one in all of scouting! At least for the parents. Okay, well, maybe Eagle will be challenging for me too!

Great post, Debra. Sometimes I like the random posts best - they're a great way to get all those blog post ideas out of your head and onto your blog. That science camp sounds really neat! Can't wait to hear how that goes.

I love your new Crew button! I'm sure your boys are fine at camp. I'm so excited for Thomas! That is so great that he gets to go to science camp.
