Reading Aloud Challenge: July 7

I am so sorry for being so slow in posting this today.  I had this partially written up, but got hit really hard by allergies.  My eye was completely swollen and I was seeing double.  Yuck.

I just can't get back into the swing of reading aloud here.  I've got everyone home, but we just aren't getting stuff done.  Which is really too bad, as we have so many things going on (like summer reading programs).  <sigh>

Evolution: The Grand
Experiment: Vol. 2 - Living FossilsWe continued working through our summer science.  Living Fossils.  This is a review book, so I'll have more about it soon.  Connor, William and Thomas are doing this.  If you saw my Facebook status, this is the science book that went MIA.  Just to prove what an incredible mom and housekeeper I am... you want to know where it turned up?  (I can't believe I'm confessing this)  In the school drawer.  Exactly where it belongs.  THREE DAYS of looking for it before it even occurred to me that someone might have actually put it where it is supposed to be.  Uff dah.

Bombus the BumblebeeBombus the Bumblebee.  Read this to Trina.  Again.  Will be reviewing it later today (I hope!) so I'm not going to say more...  but of course, I said that last week too.

If Animals Could Talk: Creation Speaks for ItselfIf Animals Could Talk.  This turned into a read it to everyone book.  We did this before (and I reviewed it).  We're enjoying it more this time around.  I think this is one of the Master Books reading program selections for William, but maybe it is for Thomas.  We aren't making much progress though.

Charlie and Trike in the Grand Canyon Adventure (The Green Notebook Series)Charlie and Trike in the Grand Canyon Adventure.  This one is for Thomas, but everyone came over to listen.  Even Connor.  This is another I reviewed almost a year ago.  Great book with lots of little hands-on things where you can pull out more information.

The Big WaveThe Big Wave.  Yes, an actual school book slipped in here.  This is for William and Thomas, who remember it from a couple of years ago.  This time, it is a part of Illuminations 2.  All the boys are listening though.  What a great book.  Love the illustrations, and the story of why Pearl Buck chose them.

Passport to the World: Your A to Z Guided Language TourPassport to the World. Thomas is doing this for the Master Books program.  He's giving me attitude about it.  Not sure what is up with that.  We did review this book a while back, and he enjoyed what he sat in on then.

Plans for this coming week?  We're trying to really get back into school here next week, so hopefully I'll be reporting that we finished a lot of the above titles.

How did your week go?  Sign the linky to link up your reading aloud post and I'll definitely come visit your post.   Love having you here...  There are a few of you who I'm missing though...  Come back!  Come back!!

Thanks for hosting this, Debra. I did get my post up tonight, after I finished reading our read-aloud. ;)

Once again, you've got a really good list going. No matter that you didn't finish all of them. You're making great progress in some really good books! Keep inspiring us. :)
