The Bible in 90 Days Challenge

I resisted.  I really did.  But this morning, I just knew we needed to join this challenge.  By "we" I mean myself and my four boys.  Trina probably won't really participate.

The goal is to read through the entire Bible in 90 days, starting today and ending October 2.  I'll be tweaking it a bit (stop laughing!) as we are going to LISTEN through the Bible, using the NKJV Word of Promise Complete Audio Bible by Thomas Nelson.

This audio Bible is 97 1/2 hours long... which I calculated to be 65 minutes a day.  So, instead of following exactly the schedule laid out, we'll listen to 65 minutes and finish up the chapter.  Today, that meant we listened to Genesis 1-14, which was almost 69 minutes.  The official schedule would have had us reading Genesis 15-16 too, but I figure it will all work out (and those are fairly short chapters).

The idea in this reading is to go through the Bible at a pretty fast clip, getting the big picture -- a broad overview.  It isn't meant to be an in-depth study by any means.

I think it is going to be really fascinating to see what the next three months bring.

I'm on board too! I actually started a few days early - just because I wanted to - so I'm on Day 5 today. I figure that gives me a few extra grace days, just in case.

Wow, Debra. I was just thinking about starting this last night and wishing I hadn't missed the "official" start. I may jump in right now with you! I'm not even going to try to include the kids because it'll be harder to actually accomplish and I need it for me right now. Do you have a breakdown of what needs to be read each day?

Lori -- I'll find the link, but for today it is Genesis 1-16, and tomorrow it is Genesis 17-28:19. I have a pdf file, and I'll figure out where I got it...

I think it is here:

Go down towards the bottom, and there is a list of links -- one is 90-Day Reading Schedule. I can't figure out how to link it directly.

I'll email you this too :)

I'm reading too! This just started today so no one should feel like they are behind. I may add in some audio too. Not sure. I tried doing this back in January during the first round but I only made it through the OT. Here's the whole thing! ;-)

I'm not officially registered or joining, but I decided I'm going to try this. I did read Genesis 1-16 this evening. I will be tweaking it as I want to include the Orthodox books so I'll give myself more than 90 days. I think I'll do the 90 days and then go back and read the other books.

Hey, Tess --

Why don't you read straight through YOUR Bible? How many pages does it have? Divide by 90, or maybe by 100 since you have more books to read. See if that first reading gets you more or less to Genesis 16.

And why not officially join in? The only requirement, really, is to check in weekly and say you are (or aren't) on track.

I thought I was way behind the official start and was amazed to discover I started right on time! Am officially signed up now and I actually downloaded the Bible in 90 Days to my Kindle app on my iTouch. Glad to be jumping in with you all1
