Review and Giveaway: The Little House That Stood

The first Veggie Tales video I ever purchased was before we even had kids.  I gave it away as a gift.  We started collecting Veggie Tales when the kids were pretty little.  We haven't been consistent in obtaining the more recent episodes, so the chance to review one was something I couldn't pass up.

The Little House That Stood, released this week, follows a similar format to many of the Veggie Tales DVDs.  Quirky humor -- some directed at the adults.  Crazy situations.  All wrapped up with solid biblical values.

The first part is a combination of The Three Little Pigs and the parable of the wise and foolish builders.  This combination works really well, and this portion was funny and had a solid message

From the publisher:
When the Three Little Pigs roll into Cabbageville looking to build some new houses, they meet one builder with a plan and two without a clue! Larry builds with hay, Mr. Lunt with bricks, but only Bob builds his houses on a firm foundation - following the wise plans from the Master Builder's Handbook! Will the Little Piggies make the right choices when it comes to building their houses - and their lives - on solid ground? Find out in this parable that shows kids when they follow God's blueprints, then can stand strong when the storms come!
The intermission is where the silly song happens.  This one -- celebrating Larry's "Happy Tooth Day" was, well, silly.  We had to back it up and replay part though, as it turned out that "Tooth Day" is also Richard's birthday.  That was fun.

The final segment, The Good Egg of Gooseville, is a retelling of the Humpty Dumpty story, starring Bob in an egg costume, along with lots of other Mother Goose stories.  This one was loved by my little two (ages 7 and almost 9), but was not a favorite of the older guys.

We really enjoyed our Veggie Tales family night... and you could have one too, as I have a copy to give away!

I love so many of them. I guess Esther is one of my favorites. Love the songs she sings. I also enjoy Lord of the Beans (may be because I am obsessed with Lord of the Rings).

I can't pick just one favorite - we love them all! We love to listen to the veggie commentaries. Hilarious!

what intrigues me about this one is that my daughter - 11yo - so desperately wants it. I don't think any of us will ever outgrow VeggieTales!
