Great Books Week: Book with Greatest Impact on Me

What book has had the greatest impact on your life? In what way?

It feels like cheating -- but my answer has to be The Bible.  I just finished reading through it (listening through it!) in 90 days.  The first time I read through the entire Bible was in elementary school.  I received a Bible from my church in 3rd grade, and it was either in 4th grade or 5th grade that I decided I was going to read the whole thing during the school year.  I had to write book reports on each separate book, and I know my teacher didn't think I could do it.  I sure wish I had those reports... I'd love to be able to read what I had to say about the books back when I was 8 or 9.

I wish I could say that I've read through the entire Bible pretty much every year since elementary school, but unfortunately, I can't.  We've been through it in our homeschool a couple of times though... once on audio, once from a chronological Bible, twice with pretty detailed children's Bibles (Golden Children's Bible, Egermeier's Bible).  And before that, I did read through the Bible on my own a couple times before my kids were old enough for me to be doing it with them.

It really is hard to overlook a book that has such an enormous impact on our lives. I know I'll be listing in response to another prompt this week, and I wouldn't be surprised if you do to. Enjoy!
