Today I am grateful for Phineas and Ferb. Not only because we've had a lot of fun watching the television show as a family (via Netflix, when we had that)...
But specifically because a few months ago, on a whim, I picked up a couple of Phineas & Ferb books at Barnes & Noble. And regretted that splurge...
...until the past couple of days. Thomas is sitting beside me, voluntarily reading Phineas & Ferb: It's Ancient History. Silently. Well, not so silently. He keeps giggling. Which means he is comprehending what he reads. (Yeah. I'm crying. Just for the record.)
He's over halfway through the book. He started it on Friday. And when we went to the bookmobile on Saturday, he asked the librarian if they had any Phineas & Ferb books. He's *never* put a book on hold before. (Sadly, they only have one... which isn't in this beginning chapter book series.)
If you have a struggling reader, you *know* what a huge deal this is.
And yes. I am thinking that I'll be using my Amazon gift cards from Swagbucks to purchase the rest of the books in the series. With any luck, they could be here this week... and we're celebrating his birthday next Saturday...
